Mendy Lipsker of www.mendyrealty.com shares the secret to his success in real estate and explains how it applies to all of life and business. It’s really very simple. The secret to being successful in real estate or any other endeavor is being disciplined, which, of course, takes discipline.

What is discipline? Discipline is doing the same things at the same time in the same rhythm with no excuses. Oddly enough, a lot of people who are disciplined think they are not and a lot of people who are not disciplined think they are.

I have a networking meeting called the Brooklyn Jewish Referrals Exchange (BJRX) which meets every Wednesday morning from 8-9. We talk about different topics, help each other out with ideas, and network with people who are important to each other for their business and ours. That is one part of discipline; not only doing it, but doing it in a timely fashion and in a certain rhythm.

There is a famous motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar, who used to talk about the alarm clock, which he then started calling the opportunity clock or opportunity machine. When it rings in the morning, he knows that it is his call to action; his call to be disciplined to go out and meet with people. I would agree with him. Each day a person should try to designate a certain time, depending on what their goals are for the day, to sit and make phone calls and then follow up with their prospects.

At Mendy Realty, we are focusing a lot on training salespeople how to be successful, to duplicate what I’ve been doing for many years, going out there, following up and cross selling with people in a related industry, like CPAs, title companies, or insurance agents, etc. Success comes from doing the same thing at the same time in a disciplined manner or fashion, and doing it again and again and again.

You see, I would like to be the Dexter Yager of real estate, going out there, training people and helping them be successful. I feel it is my call to action and my discipline to help people be successful and that is what I am trying to accomplish right now.

Excuses are not in rhythm with being disciplined. If you have a holiday party and the next morning it messes up your schedule, then you are out of the rhythm of discipline. Being disciplined is self-sacrifice. Being disciplined is meeting a good friend during the day who wants to just sit and talk, and knowing that there is a time to socialize and a discipline to being sociable. Like music, everything has to be in a certain measure and if you do it in the wrong rhythm, the whole song won’t make sense.

Here at Mendy Realty, we are dedicated to helping people be successful. And now you know our secret. Be disciplined and be successful.
